West Wales Bee Breeding Program

The funding for the PhD student working on this project comes from the Knowledge Economy Skills Studentships (KESS), a major European Convergence programme led by Bangor University on behalf of the HE sector in Wales. Benefiting from European Social Funds (ESF), KESS supports collaborative research projects (Research Masters and PhD) with businesses and other external partners based in the Convergence area of Wales (West Wales and the Valleys). KESS is working with business and academia to develop higher skills for Wales, driving Welsh businesses to punch above their weight in research and development.

The West Wales Bee Breeding program has also recently been chosen for support from the on-line organic grocers Abel & Cole, who have pledged to donate 50p from each honey bun and 50p from each jar of The London Honey Company honey they sell. They have also donated £1 from each of the 255 tickets sold for The Big Buzz event held at Battersea Power Station, London, on 9th June 2010.
